Session Overview

The aim of this course is to equip colorists and post professionals with pertinent concepts and methodology to start grading in HDR and work downstream to master and QC deliverables (HDR10, SDR, Cinema48 nit trim, IMF) using the Dolby Vision Workflow.

The course is divided into two sections - the first section covers HDR core concepts - principles, terminology, best practices for image acquisition and setting up the grading workflow.

The second part covers practical applications in DaVinci Resolve. Students will learn how to set up and master a Dolby Vision project from start to end - We will set up the color management, show the workflow and requirements prior to the Dolby analysis, and then work our way down to trims, and generate deliverables in ProRes, IMF and derived versions in SDR. We will also discuss how to export metadata, and QC the deliveries and metadata - an important step prior to studio delivery.
